Why teaching practice really matters?

No TEFL course is complete without real teaching practice.

The popularity of online TEFL courses is on the rise. You can participate in various online TEFL courses at different prices. However, even programs that boast about their certification and accreditations lack a key feature. With an online course you’re not able to teach even one class face-to-face during your training. The course may include sophisticated videos; the trainees may complete loads of written assignments and analyses; there may even be group projects and the development of complex lesson plans.

But at the end of the day, with an online course you don’t get to see your students. You can’t talk to them. You don’t have to deal with the ever-changing classroom atmosphere. You don’t get the chance to throw yourself in front of their querying eyes and win the day by overcoming their doubts. You don’t get to witness their ‘aha’ moments …

And without these experiences you do not really teach. Sure, you study and discuss and analyze teaching theory, but knowledge about teaching is not teaching skill. It’s important to know what to do, but doing it is what matters when you’re standing in front of a class and have to stay there for 45,60 or 90 minutes.

No TEFL course is complete without real teaching practice.
That’s why you’ll get loads of chances to teach real lessons at Live TEFL!
